Our Ethos

“Championing Change, Challenging The Status Quo” is our ethos!

We believe that your business needs to adapt and grow with the ever-changing demands and increasing complexity of the market. Intuitively most senior leaders within modern businesses recognise this fact, but all too often misunderstand or lack the necessary skill set to deliver effective and sustainable change from the top to the bottom of their organisations. This is where we can help

Buying consultancy is a major investment for any business and all too often is made more difficult by failing to appreciate and articulate the real underlying problems; we do not shirk from asking the difficult questions that help your organisation to become leaner, fitter and better led whether this is through our interim management style (hands on & dynamic) or through a more traditional consultancy assignment. In either case we underwrite our offering by valuing:

  • Your customers & getting to understand quickly what your customers value
  • Your profitability & a long-term approach to it’s continued growth
  • Your confidentiality & IP
  • The leaders and followers in your organisation
  • Commitment & hard work
  • Honesty & plain talking at all levels to avoid any confusion on the need to change & the action required for success
  • Actions that have been carefully and properly developed to align with the vision of your business
  • Leaders who are willing to share accountability and ‘the limelight’ when things go well…& different styles of appropriate leadership
  • The rights of all employees to enjoy their own national & unique business cultures
  • Professional and personal relationships we develop with our clients
  • Trust between us
  • The need for work and play!

In delivering progressive & effective change on your behalf we adopt the following behaviours:

  1. We challenge business leaders first and foremost
    • On who they are – their personal style
    • What they do / how they do it
    • The relevance of their vision for the business
    • Their connections with all parts of the business
  2. We always challenge & probe the ‘status quo’ at all levels & with all employee groups
  3. We try get observable facts – we don’t rely on reported ‘assumptions’ nor computer databases
  4. With permission, we embrace your customers, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
We will ask ‘the hard questions’ but in a way that seeks to promote enlightenment rather than blame…
  5. We look for and eliminate the waste in your business at all levels. Note: we seek to eliminate waste first – not jobs!
  6. We seek to ensure there is clear appropriate and defined accountability at all levels in an organisation
  7. We seek to ensure there is the necessary buy-in & enthusiasm for change at all levels
  8. We will challenge you and your people to change even if this means re-evaluating the ‘implicit’ things you hold dear that are at the heart of your organisational culture(s)
  9. We acknowledge that there are often ‘paradoxes of control’ within organisations and we work with organisations to help them become more comfortable with these

Ad-Manum on assignment

They say…

A focused & talented leader with a demonstrated ability to deliver time-based and financially robust results. He is a team player with first class analytical & decision making skills combined with a personal integrity that inspires respect from all stakeholders.

Mike King – Former Project Director – BAE SYSTEMS

Jon Laughton came to our laminate flooring manufacturing plant Belgium in January 2007 to help us improve the performance of our profiling lines. I very quickly realised that Jon’s vast experience in running factories coupled with his ability to speak French made him an ideal candidate to take over the factory on an interim basis. From February to September Jon ran our factory and delivered a 20% increase in output compared to the same period in the previous year.

It has become clear to me that Jon not only has an excellent understanding of and a pragmatic approach to the implementation of lean manufacturing but also is an empathetic & strong leader who thrives on building effective teams. A key part of this was our introduction to ‘Hoshin Kanri’ (Policy Deployment) to rationalise and focus our actions and Jon also took our embryonic Kaizen process and completely revamped it into something much more effective. He developed / delivered training materials in French & facilitated events that allowed our shop floor operators and supervisors to really understand how to make key improvements without waiting for the ‘green light’ from management.

I also found that I could talk to Jon about a very broad range of business issues and always received good advice in return.

Peter Le Roy – General Manager – Balterio Laminate Flooring
